Fewer women in their 20s are choosing to become mothers, leading to an overall birthrate decline in the U.S. But the birth rate among U.S. women age 30-45 is rising according to the latest federal data.

The U.S. birth rate fell to its lowest level ever recorded, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The drop would have been greater, but women over age 30 are having more children.
