I reckon it’s unlikely that he will be contested (who would want to challenge the party leader) but not everyone in the Green Party thinks it’s a good idea that he’s thrown his hat into the ring. A mega few weeks ahead.

One repercussion of Polanski taking part in the by-election is that it limits the broadcast coverage he can get for the Green conference in early Oct, assuming the by-election is after that. There are fairly strict rules for election candidates - as Nigel Farage found out this summer.
